Here is proof of a gap happening in the status of women in Nevada:
A median full-time working woman earns 81% of what the median full-time working man earns
3.4% women are in STEM careers compared to 6.4% of men
27.4% of women only have part time jobs compared to 18.1% of men
Women own fewer businesses than men (36.3% to 50.2%)
How do we close this gap? What is a tangible way of helping women in all fields and interests run their own business, obtain full time work, and excel in careers where they are token or few? Since 2003, the National Education for Women's Leadership Nevada has actively participated in recruiting and encouraging college women from diverse backgrounds to engage in a 6 day summer institute that hones in on professional skill building and cultivating unique ways to lead in today's world. At no cost to students since adoption of the program from Rutgers University, we've increased women's access to succeed and innovate in the state of Nevada. Our program extends its search for applicants to all colleges in Nevada and we've produced phenomenal industry leaders, advocates, innovators, and mentors by bridging the gap of pioneering Nevada women and bringing them into classrooms for the week of the conference.
