Take UNLV HOSA to the International Leadership Conference!
HOSA - Future Health Professionals is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Division of ACTE. Our two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people by providing unique opportunities to our undergraduate members. This includes service to our community whose hours are recorded for HOSA's national service project (The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation), exclusive scholarships, health-related competitive events, emergency preparedness and health professions training, and leadership conferences.
In March, our members were able to attend Nevada HOSA's 2019 state leadership conference here in Las Vegas where they were able to gain valuable leadership and technical skills. On top of that, 14 of our members placed as top 3 finalists for their respective competitions, qualifying for HOSA's International Leadership Conference which will be held in Orlando, Florida. This is our organization's first year since re-establishment and we are extremely proud of our members accomplishments with what little resources they had to work with. We would like to conclude this year by sending some of our finalists to the International Leadership Conference. Aside from representing the UNLV HOSA chapter on an international level, members will:
- Compete against other collegiate chapters in the world
- Network with other HOSA members from different states and countries
- Attend educational symposiums about professional schools, healthcare, medicine, and leadership
- Meet professionals in healthcare and gain insight and advice in their field
- Meet the United States Surgeon General
We are asking the community to help us reach our goal of $7,000 to help fund 10 members' trip to the leadership conference. This is a life-changing opportunity for our members because they will develop various skills that are transferable not only in healthcare but in all aspects of life. They will also come back with newfound knowledge and advice from other collegiate chapters that we can use to our advantage when planning for our next HOSA year.
